HI All
I have been chasing an Overheating issue with my 250EFI 2stroke,
Outboard Serial is 1B934770 - 250XL EFI 2 Stroke V6
this is what I have checked so Far:
- Water is Flowing from the thermostats
- Thermostats replaced with SS washers for now trying to hunt for the issue
- Poppet is not stuck & should be working fine (to my knowledge)
- Tell tale is pretty strong at idle & while moving
I added an analog temp gauge to the port side head & reading are: 50C (122F) at idle, however within a minute of moving the temp creeps up quickly & gets to 90C (194F) with RPM less than 3.5k
when RPM increases beyond this point temp gauge does not move alot further & we get an Overheat warning - this is followed by power restriction within 10 sec
Weird thing is (after installing the analog gauge) that temp gauge shows the engine head temp is rapidly cooling just when we come to idle (still overheating alarm beeping) & goes down to 60C or less while idling - at this point we still get Overheating warning beep - continuous beep
turn engine off for a Sec, restart & all is well again !
go up plane & same thing can happen if RPM get close to 4k or sometimes less
>>>>>
Here is the next question,
Below video show water is flowing from Lower engine mount from both sides, This was at the ramp with engine tilted up
this happens (water from lower mount) at all condition (engine on flushing muffs, idling on the water, or while planing on water)
hope this works

i would appreciate any help or input & i have another Vid from a camera mounted on the transom showing the same while on the move, I will upload this also soon
