Is this gypsy worn?

I have my rode slipping once in a while while retrieving my anchor.

To me the teeth of the gypsy look worn. I would like your advice.

If they are worn, can the gypsy be flipped sides?
Can the teeth be rebuild? (welding and grinding?)

Edit: it is a Lewmar winch, but I don't know the model nor the capacity.

More likely the clutch. Advice is to adjust and clean regularly

Wot 'e ^ said,
son had a similiar issue with his lewmar, different model,
tightened up the clutch and " normal programming resumed "

When this happens, I can see the gypsy turning and the rode is not catching, it isn't coming in.

Exactly what happens when the clutch needs adjusted. It’s like winding in a big fish on a rod with the tension wound right off. Never going to happen.

I see. It's my first boat. Is there a service manual I can refer to to learn how to adjust it?

I’m not sure. I know about the lewmar ones. Not sure what you have. I do remember seeing a video on you tube once. It’s oretty easy and I think they will be mostly the same. It’s just adjusting the tension on it really.
