Is this going to be a problem?

I have a black max 135 with Lazer2 that needed to be replaced. So I ordered a prop off eBay that I thought was identical. It's the same 21" pitch and mounts up but it's about 1/2" smaller diameter. Is the gap between the front of the prop and the gearcase housing ok. I thought about using it temporarily while I get the original one repaired.

Thanks. I used the thrust washer that was on it with the original but thought it might be too thick since I wasn't able to thread the nut as far down as it was before

Make sure the flared side of the washer mates up with the beveled side of the prop shaft, i.e. flip it over.

Ayuh,..... That's my point,..... Thrust hubs mate to the prop, not the drive,.....

I assume the prop has a modular hub? You might also check that to make sure it matches your engine make and model.

It looks like you bought a 4 1/4" hub prop when your motor requires a 4 3/4".

thought the same. It'll cause ventilation issues. Plus, my 2021 Merc. 115 hp, CT has a black ring that snaps into the housing. I wonder if that is supposed to have one also.

Other thing is the diameter and inner shape of the thrust washer. You ought to be able to go to a well entrinched boat dealer with a wall full of used props and a box full of thrust washers and find a thrust washer that correctly fits your new prop to your propshaft. If you look at the construction on the front of the props there probably is replacement prop material striking the existing washer and preventing the prop from fitting properly. BTDT
