Quick question for the Evinrude gurus. Is this a 15" short shaft or 20" long shaft outboard?

Measure from the topmost under the stern-bracket (what sits on the "top" of your transom) to the anti-cavitation plate (flat part running from top of your prop to front of motor).

Closer to 15" is short-shaft, closer to 20" is long-shaft.

By the looks of it, it appears to be a standard normal shaft model. It appears to be an exact model of mine!!.. Give the model number.

It's not my outboard, it's being sold and I'm interested in it for my 12' Sea Nymph. I know how to make the necessary measurement, but the outboard is not local enough to make the measurement by me personally (its a few hours away, one way). The sellers says its a short shaft, but I wanted to get some opinions before I decided on the outboard.

Model number is 15704M.

Welcome to iboats! It's a short shaft. There would be an extension between the gear-case and exhaust housing if it were a long shaft.

if it where long it would have a 5inch extension between the gearcase and exhaust housing. the one in the photo is a long shaft.

Ah... sorry 'bout that:watermelon: Figured I'd pass the measurement procedure on, I didn't know it was a long distance purchase possibility...

Looks to be in great shape though, nice and clean... hope the compression test works out. I ran a '81 Johnson 9.9 for a long time, very dependable motors

Outboard has 110psi in both cylinders, pumps water well and engages forward and reverse great.
