That works in your favor with regard to supply and demand.
They are telling me that that is about 400 lower than book value.
I hate it when a seller says that. It may be the case, but comps have a lot more to do with boat values than the various pricing services available to the general public. I'd say if you really like the boat and are in a position to buy now take it for an extended water test and perform your due diligence. If you still think it will work for you make them an offer. The worst they can do is say no. If they don't like your offer, maybe you could offer them their price if they throw in a trailer (assuming you need one). Since they keep it at a marina they may have an eaiser time finding an affordable one to sweeten the deal. If they don't like that idea, you could offer them a little more than their price, maybe $500, to kind of gauge their desire to move the boat. It's really just a dance. In the end it comes down to how badly the seller wants to move the boat and how badly you want to own it. That's the real value determinant. The book is just a starting point. As long as your offers are not insulting, and based on what you expect to pay I don't think they are, just keep looking (and enjoying the experience) until you find what you want for what you want to pay. Maybe you've found it, maybe not. Only one way to find out.
