I have an I/O and was looking for ways to increase performance. Someone told me about a "Transom Jack for the sterndrive". I guess this is basically a jackplate for an I/O. Anybody ever heard of this? Any idea on prices? Any other ideas on increasing performance. The boat performs great now, but always interested in boosting speed and/or HP. The new scorpion engine by Merc is basically a bored out 350 to 377CI. Anyone know what other modifications were made. I have an article from Bass / Walleye boats were they test ran this engine on a stoker and reached speeds in the 90's. Anyone ever modified a 350 for more horsies?

Re: Is there such an animal?

I believe I have seen this item advertised towards the back of Trailer Boats magazine. It basically is a spacer between the outdrive and the ... whatever the other part is called.<br />I have a Quicksilver Power 2 prop for sale. If you are looking for more power out of the hole, this is a great prop. It starts out at a pitch of 15" and then will shift to 21" just like a cars automatic transmission. I had used it for a 3.0l w/ an Alpha 1 outdrive. It was like adding 4 more cylinders. Top end performance is unchanged. I have it advertised in this sites classifides. Bert :D

Re: Is there such an animal?

Actually looking for more top end performance. I'm currently running a Merc Mirage SS 15 x 19". A setup expert recommended a change to a 4 blade Bravo and suggested to increase the pitch to 21". I was planning on trying one out this summer. What about Gil header's? Would this increase performance? I'm still interested in this Transom jack if anyone has info.
