Hi,
I have a suspicion that my motor may be tired. I will do a compression test soon. It is a 1996 4.3lx in an 1830SS. It supposedly was rebuilt a few years ago but I am not sure as to whether this is true. With a new 17 pitch prop, the boat hits 37 mph at 4400rpm. Is this right or is the motor lacking in power? It runs very smooth and is fairly gutsy when getting on plane, but it doesn't have the top speed I was expecting. I had a 19pitch prop and it really only did 40 mph at 4300rpm
