....a specific device, in XP? I use two PC's with one HP 2100 Laser printer shared between them via a selector switch. A while back, the printer was acting goofy so I called a local printer repair guy. He said that later XP updates had caused my problems and that I should switch from the PC6e driver to the HP PC5e driver.
I did that on both computers and the goofiness ceased. Now, however, when I switch the printer to just one of the XP PC's I always get a 'found new hardware' notice that I have to cancel. It's not a big thing but it is a PIA and as I said, it only does it on one of the computers.
I do not want to change printers as I use the HP for my old DOS based business program and need the 66 lines per page that it does. I guess that you can change that feature on other laser printers but I do not want to go there with everything else working so well. Seems that you just cannot kill this old 2100.
