BEIRUT, Lebanon: Saudi ambassador to Washington, Prince Turki al-Faisal, has submitted his resignation in an abrupt move after only 15 months in the job, a Saudi official said Tuesday.

The official did not say why Prince Turki, a former intelligence chief, decided to leave. He spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

The Saudi Embassy in Washington, where Turki has been posted since September 2005, confirmed the resignation and said the prince will leave for Saudi Arabia early next year to spend more time with his family.

The Saudi government has not formally announced the resignation or a successor.

Things are defiantly starting to get interesting.

We have Iran with that forum on The Holocaust, which I think is just an excuse to stir up the radicals and maybe get a war with Israel started.

Then we have the annual summit of Gulf leaders with this warning... "Our Arab region is besieged by a number of dangers, as if it was a powder keg waiting for a spark to explode,"

And just to keep it really interesting, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert apparently let it slip That Israel really does have Nukes.... well, we all knew that, but now it's maybe official.

Re: Is the Arab teapot starting to boil?

I had the privelege of meeting Prince Turki at Consulate gatherings a number of times when living in SA for 5 years (1986-1991).
At that time he was CIC of the Royal Saudi Air Force and Governor of the Eastern Province. He is very Westernized, likes Americans, very knowledgable and an overall good guy.

His resignation scares me a bit and I will be interested to see who replaces him. Hopefully, it won't be Prince Abdulazziz.

I would really like to know who is behind all this creating of mischief which is clearly directed against the west.
Is Russia doing the manipulating or is it China. Clearly the United States is currently controlling the oil reserves and the trade lines, but with these efforts to destabilize the area it is starting to become blood letting instead of controlling.
It is my feeling that somebody is very quietly stirring the pot and uses the arabs as their tools to bleed the west
