Is New Fuel Sender Needed??

It's a 96 waveblaster 760. Tried holding it upside down and still nothing. Currently i have a blinking fuel light and a low gas reading with full tank. Put the sender in some gas and the floats still floated? I also jumped the two wire like what was said in previous post. By doing this the flashing light went off and the gauge reads full. Is this all i can test before determining the sender is bad. Any more info would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

As far as I know yes you need a sending unit , they have a rheosatat in them that works much like a dimmer switch on a light , if it goes bad sender will not work . Be sure to ground the wires at the sending unit to remove the chance of a short .

thanks for the info. Would this be something to do to check the old one or is this required with new one? I ran a wire from the ground of the two wires directly to the battery to make sure it was grounded still no response.

Sorry I was not clear enough in my previous post , When testing the gauge by jumping the 2 wires , do it at the sending unit connectors to eliminate the possiability of a short in the harness causing the gauge not to read . No seperate ground is needed at all . Simply disconnect both wires from the sending unit , jump them to each other and the gauge should read full . If it does the sending unit is bad .
