Is My Skeg Bent?

I made a blunder pulling my boat of the garage last night - forgot to raise the motor. As I pulled it down the driveway, the skeg of my Yamaha V-Max 150 dragged down 6' of asphalt. Other than a little grinding-off of the bottom of the skeg, it appeared to be o.k., but I can't quite tell if it's bent or not. I'm not sure if what I'm looking at is a slightly bent Skeg, or if the pitch of the prop throws of my line of site a bit.

Is there a good way to test the straightness of a skeg?

Fishwrench,

Unless it changes the handling of the boat, the straightness of the skeg isn't very important. Mine has been slightly bent for 11 years, and doesn't make a bit of difference in the handling. I wouldn't worry about it, but check how it handles the next time you run the boat. Gives a little character to the boat.
