I have an 88 suzuki DT85 with the oil injection disconnected so i mix the oil.It died last weekend, the big end of the rod bearing is gone on the bottom cylinder.my local dealer says they can send the crank off for a rebuild.my delima is the block has already been bored the max. of .050 mm.should i go to the extra expense of resleeving all 3 cylinders, new rods, pistons, bearing, crank rebuild, etc.or just put new rod, bearing and piston on that one cylinder(cylinder wall wasn't damaged)? The other bearings look and feel good as do the pistons. Is bearing failure common or should the others last awhile?thanks!

My question would be ,who is rebuilding the crank and what is their credibility?Seen alot of crank rebuilds go a while but also seen about as many go to crap.

Weigh out your estimate and your wallet. Would replacing the motor be better? It's a financial decision.

Bob

some place in clearwater,fl. does the rebuilds.my wallet can't stand a new motor i just finished up the interior so i have spent my allowance.i was just wondering if it was a big no-no to just do the one cylinder?i hope to upgrade boats in a couple of years but i want to feel good about selling this one.thanks
