Hi Guys,

I'm glad to write you today. I readed many post of you in the past to help me with a lot of question I had. Today, my question will probably be really simple for some of you.

I have a Mercury 9.9hp 2 strokes 1995. It has very low hours of running and it is really clean. I have no difficulty for starting and running at middle range and WOT.

For idleing, it run correct but I wonder if it couldn't run more smoother. I guest it could have some varnish in carburator that could cause that. In this case, this will requirering a complete carb cleaning + carb?

To show you what I'm talking. I took a short video here.

FYI, I just putted new spark plug, the engine was previously warmed to his normal temperature.

Thanks for your inputs.

Run some Sea Foam thru it. Then check the idle RPMs.

Thanks for the answer.

To be honest, I'm a little bit affraid of this kind of product. What I understand about that it's that allow the varnish and some other crap to be cleaned.

What type of Sea foam you suggest? in spray directly into carburator durring fast idling or mixture in the gaz tank? which mixture do you recommand for hard cleaning (I don't want to take the chance to break something in my engine. Both cylinder are at 125 lbs tight of compression and I want to keep it in good shape). If the Sea foam is risky, there is other solutions?

Thanks

Any other input? Does Seafoam will surely fix that? Or is it the normal running?

If someone would have a link of a video with similar outboard running at idle in perfect condition (for example after using the Seafoam) It will be appreciate to make comparison with mine.

Thanks a lot

Many members use Seafoam in the tank regularly to keep a carb clean. If contaminates are already there, it includes a risk that release of them will clog critical minute passages.

Your engine sounds pretty healthy to me. I would try Seafoam or a similar product and see what happens.

Thanks Jo for your input

This noon I got a can of seafoam spray and another for fuel mixture. I'm currently trying the spray directly in the carb throat procedure and will let you know later what happens. If it help or not and maybe another short video during and after to compare the forward idling.

Thanks Guys

Hi Guys,

Here is another video in the same conditions but after using Seafoam. Please take a look and give me what you think.

I can notice a little bit faster idling and a little bit smoother but not a big difference than before. Currently I have Seafoam mixture of 2oz. / gallon for a quantity of 2 gallon. I'll run with it for the rest of my tank and see if it will become smoother that now.

Am i suppose to see a big difference after cleaning process? Does I need to reajust my low speed mixture screw after using Seafoam?

Thanks
