They still sell them around here, although I haven't really looked at them in the last 6 months or so.

Have a peek at the Optimax heading.... while they are direct fuel injected (DFI) motors...they're still 2-strokes. They have a lot to choose from.

Thanks for pointing that out, but it seems that the smallest is 75hp, everything under that has gone 4-stroke.

I noticed the "classic" line was pulled from the web site between two and four weeks ago. Interesting that it was done with no formal comment.

Re: Is Mercury still making 2-strokes?

I saw a post on another board that Mercury and Tohatsu have gone together and built a new 275,000 sq foot plant in Japan and they are now building Mercury designed motors, whatever that is worth. Mercury always seems to have a hard time getting started witha new designed motor. Last try was the OPTI-POP. Took several years toget it right.

Thanks for all your info. It seems kind of bizarre to me that this would happen without any announcement or acknowledgment. You can't tell me there's no market for small 2-strokes, even with all the California clean air hubub! One reason I bought a Merc Classic 20 two years ago was that I figured it's been around a long time and will probably stay around. I don't get it. I guess you never know.
