Carbureted and EFI 2-strokes will be phased out. All major manufacturers are still going to be doing 2-strokes for awhile yet (except Honda), but they'll be the new Direct Injected models. Merc was migrating towards an all 4-stroke lineup, but without Yamaha they're going to have to fall back on the OptiMax for awhile.

Not to worry whiteox - All of the outboard manufacturers will be making carbed 2 cycles for many years to come. They have to to supply the world market. Many if not most countries do not have the technology to support or maintain the latest and greatest stuff you can cram into an outboard.<br /><br />20 years from now someone will be writing a post to this forum here at iboats asking how to decarb his 2005 2 cycle. Hmmmmm - - wonder if I'll be around to read it?

SoLittle don't be silly. In 20 years they won't have to type it here they will just have to think it and the telepathic internet will respond with decarb answers

Johnny CDs will still be running in permitted waters in 20 more years. They will be burning methanol and Amsoil.
