I just went to Kentucky to buy a 2003 Yamaha XLT 800. Before I agreed to buy it I had the owner run the engine with water hooked up and then I ran a compression check on it. I have it at home now (Ohio), still cold so I read the owners manual about cold weather storage. All it says is that after you run it with a flushing hose hooked up, you then turn the water off then start the engine and rev it a few times - 10 to 15 seconds- and that this removes enough water. Is it really that easy to protect it from freezing? On my old one I remove a hose and pour some antifreeze in it to be extra safe. I don't see a way to do it with this newer one yet.
