I've got a blown 1992 MerCrusier 4.3L.

A Marine 4.3L long block is ~2500 dollars. The same long block at Autozone is 1300. What's the difference?

From what I have been told, is the Marine engine has brass freeze plugs and a different camshaft with heavier springs.

Thanks,

Chuck

The camshaft is different and the core plugs might be.
Why heavier springs?

You'll get a warranty from Rapido - you'll void the autozone warranty as soon as you put it in a boat.

Since the 4.3L was used in trucks only(correct me of I am wrong) the cam and valve springs should be the same.

You are correct. It was used in S10's and the GMC equivalent.

You should start researching this project before believing some dribble on the internet.

That's why I am asking :)

I've rebuilt car and truck engines, but I've never done any serious work on a marine engine.

The recommendation to get a long block from Rapido Marine is a good one. I might go that route.

I'm running a motor straight out of a 2001 AWD astro van (4.3) Automotive EFI and all, runs absolutely perfectly. The truck cams are very very similar (if not the same) as the marine cams...
