is 65 merc 1000 same as 68 merc 1000

The titles says it all i have a 65 merc 1000 having trouble with spark i think its the coils. and i have a chance to get a 68 for 100 bucks so it be good for parts just wanna know if they interchange.

the 65' has a different ignition system than a 68'. a 65' has two sets of ignition points inside the distributor cap and two condensers
