Hi everyone

I am looking to buy a Nissan 3.5B outboard 2 stroke.

This will be used just for trolling back to the lake dock just in case my main engine fails to start.

My boat is 18' I/O and weights about 2000 pounds.

Is 3.5hp enough to limp mode back to the lake dock?

I am not looking to get into plane :)

I use this boat in a small lake.

Thanks
Aida

i tried a 3hp on a 15 ft.outboard, 900 lbs. barely moved, was a joke,. recommend 6-9.9 hp, any wind and your in the weeds.

If the lake is protected not too much wind or waves it would probably be enough.I sure wouldn't want deal with any wind, current or waves with a 3.5.
I think other wise a 5.5 would be the minimum.
