Hi

Is it possible to install tilt and trim unit on a Johnson 55 1980 with short shaft?

I have not found anything on the partlist for this motor but I am hoping that some other model would fit.

Anyone know something about this?

The only thing that fits a short shaft is tilt...TnT never offered on a short shaft so answer is no. Only option is aftermarket.

Tilt would be just fine then we could bring the engine up easy, any points on what unit would work?

Is tilt only a special version or does tilt only mean that the trim function of a TnT unit would not work but tilt would?

When only using tilt, will the hydralic keep the engine down when reverse, I mean will the "manual lock" be removed when installing a tilt?

I installed the kit shown above by Faztbullet on a 1976 50 HP. The kits for three and four cylinder engines will not work. The mid section on the 2 cylinder engine is smaller.

Yes, it will stop the engine from going up in reverse.

One thing I DO NOT see in that kit is the engine bracket. The transom bracket is there.
