I've been lurking here reading/learning. I did not see an intro page so I'll make mine here. My name is Marcus and my wife and I purchased our first boat a month ago. I have experience on the ocean fishing with my dad out of Long Beach harbor, but this is my first boat of ownership. We've taken it out to our local Lake Pleasant the last four weekends and are really enjoying it. We are having a wonderful time as a family and are learning a lot about the boating world, yet still have lots to learn. The new boat is below in my sig. It's a 2004 Nitro 188 Sport S/F and runs great! No problems. I've put a new stereo in it, picked up a handheld VHF for it, joined Vessel Assist, and last weekend I installed a new sonar/gps unit w/new trans and external gps receiver mentioned above.
That leads me to my question. I want to buy a third party mapping software for the SW region lakes and rivers. I'm researching it and used the search function to read up on some of the threads posted here on the subject but did not see a specific thread with that question.
Would like your opinion on what is the best software out there for this unit, where is the least expensive place to buy, and do I download it on my own SD or does it only come shipped on their card? (I would like to be able to DL it instantly. That's why I ask. )
