Dear all

I have got the motor mount for the intex excursion 5 from Amazon and i bought a Yamaha 2.5HP four stroke weighted 13KG/29lb and fitted perfectly but the problem i've got is when i start trolling and running the motor its seems like it will sink, the motor mount goes down in the water like it cant handle the motor power.

i saw a couple of videos in youtube they have done some modification on the motor mount .. Please help me.

by the way i live in the kingdom of Bahrain ( Middle East ) and thank god i found such a great website to ask for a help.

You may want to adjust the trim and raise the mount. Anyway, that boat is more of a toy, way too soft. Although they say you can mount a 2.5hp (max), I wouldn't throw anything except a trolling motor on it. A good chance you may lose that motor if it pop or peel off. You should have bought the Seahawk instead, much more ridgid.

Agreed. While the boat can handle the weight of that motor, it cannot handle its power. The hull speed on those boats is about 5 or 6 mph. No matter how much power you put behind it, it will never go faster than that. The boat will sink before it goes faster than 5 or 6 mph as you're discovering. A trolling motor is all that is needed to achieve max hull speed on that boat. The 2.5 hp engine you're using is fine, you just shouldn't operate it at much above idle speed.

The max HP rating for that boat is actually 1.5hp (just checked.) So you are above the limit already. Since they don't make outboard at 1.5hp anymore, it obviously is designed to work with a trolling motor.

I have used a few inflatable boats and I thought only the Intex Seahawk II, (the only under $200) had a chance to handle a gas engine. It worked really nice with my 55lb thrust trolling motor, till i overinflated it and the floor keels kinda joined. 8)

Google for Intex Seahawk II (2) Amazon has it for $128 free shipping in US.
