Interruptor Switch?

Hello
I have 5.7l 250 HP Merc Idle currently about 1200 rpm (I know its high, going to turn it down, just got the boat) When I shift into neutal the motor is stalling, previous owner advised that leaving in gear and going full throttle is a fix for restarting. Reading about interruptor, it seems this may be the problem. Also the shifter (Morse) seems to be very tight. The motor is a '06 model with 32 hrs. Any advice? If the interruptor is the culprit how do I adjust it?
Thanks

Re: Interruptor Switch?

Disconnect the linkage and see if the engine will idle down to around 750 with adjusting, then reconnect the linkage and see what happens when you shift it on land with the engine running and earmuffs (water supply) on the outdrive.

In addition if your lower shift cable is getting stiff it will cause this as well as a bad interrupter sw.
