interrupter switch

can the interrupter switch shut the engine down while running full speed?

Without any info on what type of boat it's really hard to say. But --------
anything is possible with a boat.

1987 Bay liner capri
The engine is a 2.3 l omc (ford).
I have changed the plugs, wires, points, condenser and the assist solenoid.I changed the coil with one that I knew worked.

Just maybe ---------- take at look at your throttle control. Have someone push it to its WOT position and take a look at what happens to the cut off switch. Possibly it's just moving enough so it is indeed pushing against it and causing it to make contact. I'm just pulling this out of the seat of my pants so it's nothing tried and true.

I tried what you said and the interrupter switch is not disengaging.
I am going to get a new one and ill let you know the results.

after days of scratching my head,numerous trips to the lake, and about 100 dollars my problems came down to a fatly condenser from mallory.
now me and the bayliner krapy can have some fun in the sun. thanks for everyones help.
