Who know something about these units? I am interested in the Sportsman model but can't find any data on it. According to their web site the new models either scan horizontally in front and to the sides of the boat or they scan vertically in front and down or both. Their Email site is down and the voice mail on their phone says they are closed.

Any help on the Sportsman?

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Re: Interphase Scanning Fish Finders

I have 11 year old Interphase fish/depth
and Loran systems on my boat that work fine. I'm glad to hear they are still in business. The quality must still be there if you are considering a new unit. Sorry I can't help you with info on the Sportsman model. There is discussion on Interphase stuff at C-Dory Boat Owners Group.

Do you have an address for the C-Dory Group?

Thanks, JRJ. Do you have any thoughts about why they aren't more popular and better known?

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Re: Interphase Scanning Fish Finders

The Interphase equipment was on the boat when I bought it used. I didn't know they weren't well known. A Santa Cruz Calif. address is on my manuals, maybe the company is just better known on the west coast. Until they shut off the Loran system, my fishfinder and Loran "interphase" and provide a really good navigation setup. I also carry a GPS and it and the Loran always agree. Did you check out C-Dory? What'd you think?

Re: Interphase Scanning Fish Finders

Howdy, JRJ. Yes, I did. I passed on the Sportsman because it was just a depth finder, not a scanner. I bought a Sea Scout, which scans horizontally, keeps track of depth, and plots tracks if you need it.

I bought it for my Outrage, which has a few months of restoration coming before she gets the Sea Scout installed, but I am looking forward to finding suspended schools of stripers, dolphin, tuna, walleye and crappie a lot easier than before.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Thanks for the reply J.B. Are you going thru-hull or transom transducer? And why?

I will put the Xducer on the transom where it can kick up if I try water that is too shallow, JRJ. Actually, I don't think through-hull is an option on a Boston Whaler. I certainly wouldn't cut a well in the foam on one of my Whalers!

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)
