Is it possible to get streamed content on your TV? I have a Sony Bluray DVD unit that I can get netflix, etc on. It has a hardwired connection. When I turn on the DVD and set the TV to the right connection, I get a menu of various providers such as Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, etc.

Now I would like to watch the 2013 CPAC convention. It is not being well covered on normal satellite/cable channels. I can get the CPAC live streaming on my computer but would like to be able to get it on my TV.

Any suggestions?

How about a HDMI cable from the puter to the TV if you have HDMI capability.

Most games consoles support internet surfing, PS3 etc

rbh, my internet connection for the television is via a Cat5 cable to the Sony BluRay DVD. To get to any streaming, I have to turn on the DVD, then go to whatever streaming connections that are shown in the menu. There is no way that I could get an HDMI cable from the modem to the DVD.

We started with a laptop (wireless conection) hooked to the tv, then a ps3, then my brother sent me out his older entertainment puter the size of a kleenex box.

Re: Internet streaming?

I can plug my laptop into my TV directly with a hdmi cable, I have a Blu Ray that has an amazing amount of online services, but nothing to actually stream a regular internet connection, it has sony TV, Netflix, Hulu and Hulu plus, BBC, etc. But it does not have a browser on it, so I can't actually surf the web with the Blu Ray player, I can only use the services that are on the BR.

But like I said, I can output through the HDMI hook up on the laptop, some TV's also have a VGA port or an S Video port, if you have an S Video, you will also have to run sound to your TV to hear anything, which is easy, it just takes a headphone plug on one end and audio hook up on the other end to go to the stereo inputs on your TV.

Depending on your computer, you can also get an add on HDMI card, so you can hook up to your TV, my Sony Blu Ray is wireless, I also have a magnavox Blu ray that has wireless built into it, both of them are N speed wireless, up to 300 speed systems, I don't know of any modems that have HDMI built into them, at least I have never seen one.

There is a media server by the name of tVersity, that runs on your PC, talks to your Blue-Ray or other web-enabled device. Supposedly tVersity can stream anything to your TV. I tried it for a while and couldn't get it to work right. Instead I found PlayOn, which requires a little tech know-how to create your own channels, but will pretty much play anything. It also installs on your PC, and streams to your web-enabled device.
