Anybody noticed a big change in response time with V7? I may have other problems but my response time seems to have gone to pot since I installed V7.
I have not tried Firefox or Mozilla but am interested especially if it is faster.
Your input????????
I was a fence sitter too about Firefox (Mozilla). Decided to give it a try, haven't looked back. I still use IE 6 every once in a very rare while for ftp stuff because I never took the time to figure out how to logon to an ftp site with Firefox.
Firefox does not have all of the hooks and backdoors to integrate into the smorgasbord of MS applications so it is much less vulnerable to viruses, if that is a concern for you. If you use a bunch of MS stuff integrated into your email and web browser you might be better off sticking with the MS IE product.
Firefox is highly customizable. You can install free addons (plugins) that do all kinds of things. They are easy to install and uninstall so you spend/waste a lot of time surfing the addons at the Firefox website. You have to ask yourself, do you really need that real-time Bangladesh population counter active in your corner of your browser?
Fwiw, I was impressed enough with Firefox that I also switched it its Mozilla cousin, Thunderbird, as my non-gmail emailer. No more Outlook, no more Eudora with its advertisements and renewing conditions, etc.
Some folks have said Firefox is faster, some have said it is a little slower. Seems about the same to me until I installed addons to block certain website scripts than the web surfing took off like a rocket. For me the one thing that affects the speed of web surfing is how well I maintain my computer and HDD.
Edit: the Lenovo/IBM Password Manager/encryption/decoder whatever software is not yet fully integrated into the Firefox browser. If you have a Lenovo/IBM computer and use that application to effect auto login at websites (I do) it is not yet fully functional if you use Firefox. No problems with IE 6, havent tried IE 7 but I wouldnt expect any probs with the Password Manager using it. IBM says fixing that to work with Firefox is a priority update they are working on.
