internal pipe diametre , Johnson 25hp

Hi, the vac pipe on my johnson 1987 25hp, has split.
I have been round all weekend trying to find the correct rubber pipe with the same i.d. But after visiting bike, motor and boat shops i have been unabble to locate some.
So i was just wondering weather rubber or silicon hose would do the same job/ as long as it is the same same i.d, looks around 2mm? would this be o.k??

i use fuel line.
