I am in the process of repairing/rebuilding a 70HP 1978 3Cyl Merc, Should I spraypaint the inside of the covers to protect against corrosion using a heatproof engine enamel. It will be used in a salt water environment only. Would painting the inside of the water jackets impede cooling capability or cause any problems??
Currently it is an almost new engine block with no corrosion, Like to keep it that way if possible. :D

Also I have removed the reverse lock from the leg completely, Do I need to plug anything where the reverse lock actuator rod came from before I reassemble the leg.

Re: Internal Corrosion Protection?

Tashasdaddy, Thanks for the info, I will look for a product like you mentioned for flushing the outboard, Incidently approximatly how long should you idle on the muffs to flush the outboard properly?

Kind Regards
