Intermittent Starter Problem

I have a 6.2L Merc and sometimes when I try to start the engine I just hear a click. I'm guessing its the solenoid on the starter that I hear. Its not trying to engage the starter, its just a very light click sound. So, if I turn the key 4 or 5 times it will finally start.

Last year I bought a new starter, changed the power wire to the battery and ran a 2nd ground wire to the engine block. I still have the same intermittent problem. What could I be overlooking? Thanks

Re: Intermittent Starter Problem

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... Dirty corroded wirin' ends are the Most common reason for that Issue,...

Start at the battery, 'n clean to shiny metal clean, Both ends of ALL the starter's wirin',...

Then Test each component to see what's Bad, insteada just throwin' parts at it, Hopin' to get it right,...
