Intermittent restarting problem with F200TXRD

My 2004 F200 has had this problem occasionally since new. It crops up maybe 2 or 3 times a season - other than that, the motor has been flawless.

The symptoms are that after you've been running for a while, you shut the motor off for a few minutes - say 15 or so. When you go to restart it, the engine will grunt, but not really crank - it seems like the starter doesn't have enough torque to turn the engine over. Then you switch in both batteries, and it starts just fine. It always starts on a single battery when the motor is cold.

The motor has never not started when using both batteries, but I always wonder if I'm going to have a problem someday. Anyone else experience this type of problem?

Guess it's unique to my motor.

This doesn't sound like a motor issue to me.
More related to a battery, cable or batt switch.
Have you tried starting on the other battery?
What does the battery gauge show on the yamaha gauge?
Seems like the amps aren't getting to the starter.

I actually have not tried switching to the other battery when I'm in that situation - that's a good idea. I've been just going for both to be on the safe side. I agree that it's as if the starter isn't getting enough juice - but it never happens with a cold engine, which in theory should take more amps than a hot one.
