Hi Guys. i have a 1986 Yamaha 140HP V4 outboard. Has had a major service last year and was told by the mechanic that the motor is in pristine condition and has another 10 years in it. I have always had it serviced each year and it has been an amazing motor for me, After the last service i had some electrical problems which led to the stater being replaced and then soon after the power pack blew. That was also replaced.

I have a recurring problem now and that is the motor loses power intermittently in low revs. It seems to happen after about 20 minutes of a decent run (i.e 4000RPM and no problems) and if i turn the motor off then on again after sitting fishing the problem starts. On acceleration there is nothing there and then all of a sudden it kicks in and just about puts everybody over the back of the boat :). If i continue to do it i will end up on what feels like 2 cyls and can not get over 2000RPM. i limp back to port call the mechanic and it is all OK again until after a decent run.
have changed plugs and no oil on them but one had a white oxidization on it.

I am bambozzled as to why it is doing it. Also never does it from a cold start . i get at least 30 mins of normal boating ??

any ideas
