Hello all. I've got a '79 Merc 115 inline 6 (ser #5240607) with a bum lower unit. I've got a lead on a replacement candidate coming off a '75 inline 115 (sorry, don't have the ser number).

Is there any reason I would not be able to use the lower unit from the '75 as a replacementnI ? I assume the bolt patters would be the same but, didn't know if there was something else that would prevent it (number of driveshaft splines, etc).

Thank you!

No, that one will bolt right up. The only difference is that the older driveshafts were not stainless, like your original. Grease 'em up, and have fun.
