interchange head in 9.9

Hi.
i'm thinking if its posible to change old type of head on 9.9 1983y(termostat in the lower part of head) with the newer one (termostat in upper part)?
will it work fine?

I have comparing both the old head bolt pattern for both the 74-76 & the 77-86 with newer 87 style heads. The newer head with the top mounted thermostat could be interchanged with the older head. If you make the conversion to the newer head, the coils may be slightly different configuration, but they can be made to function as the mounting bolts are all the same locations.

Yep, as I mention in my "Ramblings" the newer style head (87-92) will fit the older blocks
