Well I wasn't sure where to post this but since its kinda stupid to use a boat without insurance I will put it here. Couple months ago when I bought my boat the guy was telling me about his 30 foot sailboat he had spent the last 13 years rebuilding just had got it done about 8 months prior was going to move out to the lake for the summers and live on it. Well about a month before this a tornado had ripped through the lake and one marina got hit bad with a ton of boats sinking..and you guessed it his was one of them. He told me it was hard knowing his boat was at the bottom of the lake and he had never even thought about putting insurance on it. We went out last weekend and there are still boats sticking out of the water from that marina

Re: Insurance

Even WITH insurance, I would have been just as sick! 13 years pouring my heart and soul into something I dreamt daily of. Living my summers on Her. The money would be a very small consolation.

I actually feel bad for the guy. Not the money he is out...but the dream that was lost.:(

He had a good outlook at it though he said he was lucky it missed his house and his cars even though he really missed the boat

Re: Insurance

And then there is all the money for getting it removed from the lake, even if its a total loss, they make you remove them.

Re: Insurance

They have got most of it cleaned up already. I went down there shortly after it hit, and I could not believe that it was GONE. I saw some pretty expensive boats that were just junk because of that tornado. It still has two ramps closed down. Family and I are usually at that lake every weekend.

Yea we are usually out there every weekend because its like 10 minutes from our house...usually crazy busy there also... We never really go that far down we stay over by the dam or the cove but we will drive over there every once in a while

Re: Insurance

Just stay away from the far West side of the lake. It gets shallow real quick. I know from experience. We usually hang out by the dam, or around Zoom Beach.
