No. Your car policy covers it. Read your policy though, as asking forum members is unreliable at the least

liability is generally covered if you are towing legally.
Collision coverage generally requires additional coverage.
Ask your agent.

Re: Insurance...

Depends on if you want your boat covered or not.

Most policies will cover the liability portion, for instance if you cut a corner too tight and hit another car with your boat/trailer....your policy would cover the damage to the OTHER car.

But in that same situation the damage to your boat and trailer would NOT be covered by the collision coverage on your car/truck. So if you'd want your boat and trailer fixed, you'd need separate boat policy.

But EVERY company is different, so I agree you need to ask your agent to get an accurate answer.

Re: Insurance...

Dont forget to ask about general liability - my coverage was for my family only on the boat - no one else, it was few extra dollars if I wanted someone else to be on the boat with me.

My truck coverage covered anything being towed up to a value of 5,000. I have a general use trailer that I tow things with and it covers that trailer as well.
