I have a 2001 Bayliner Capri with a 3.0 liter Mercruiser. When I turn the key, there is an audible click but the engine only turns over sometimes. After reading many forums, I bought a new slave solenoid to install but I can't seem to get the bolts to back out of the mounting plate. There seems to be a nut or a piece of plastic on the back of one bolt, but I don't have clearance to get a wrench between the mounting plate and the engine block. Do I have to take the entire mounting bracket (which secures the starter solenoid, all linkage, fuel line, circuit breaker, etc) off completely to get the slave solenoid off? Any ideas would be appreciated!
