I'm getting ready to reinstall o/d on my 1992 cobra and have read omc manuel and clymers. They contradict each other on putting o/d and transom shift cable in forward gear or in nuetral who is right? or does it not matter. also one say to use a gasket sealer on the pivot gasket to the o/d and the other say's not to use it. I want to do it right the first time. <br />thank you

It should be in neutral, and it should have been when you removed it as well. I'm curious about the gasket sealer... I've always used it as my manual (seloc) says to use it. The parts guy at the marina says they don't use it, so I'm not sure either. Hopefully somebody will let us know.

Thanks marunr for the reply. I hope that there is someone out there that can shed some light on this. My son has a Bday party at the lake it wont be any fun with out the boat. Can't pull kids on tube's and ski's.
