I need to know if there is any kind of lube or sealer that has to go on the 2 large "donut" rubber gaskets in and out of the transom when installing the engine ( cantilever mount-270-289)
Penta p/n 804190 nomenclater "rubber ring"
Thanks in advance
btw, My ujoints were stuck on the main drive shaft and I fabricated a "puller". I have fotos if anyone wants to see the method

I sure hope you replaced the bearing/s in the flywheel cover, along with the input shaft seal in the upper gear box, along with a new bellows.

As for the lube/sealer on the donuts, no, install them dry. It actually makes putting it back together more of a problem because the rings would fall off of the clamp ring, and the flywheel cover.

Thanks much. I guess I used the wrong description about what I did, the ujoints were stuck to the shaft attached to the fly wheeel (832941). I went thru a lot of unnccesary work- I removed the intermediate and lower outdrive as a unit, leaving the upper gear case on the boat, and drove out the ujoint bearings from the joint fork. I then removed the engine. Then I attached my fabricated puller and was able to pull the remaining ujoint parts (intermediate section and steering fork)from the shaft. I then removed the "bell housing", removed the shaft and seals and bearing, cleaned up the shaft, installed it with a new bearing, installed new ujoints in the fork, yoke and intermediate section etc. I did not remove the input shaft or disassemble that part of the upper housing, there was no sign of leakage or worn bearings. I am now ready to reinstal the engine, reassemble the outdrive and reinstal it .
Again, thank you very much, the info provided is apreciated.

Re: installing aq120 engine

All reinstalled, styarted motor and had massive pressure build up in crankcase. Noticed that hose running from crankcase outlet (near starter) routed to and connected into hose from valve cover. There is no inlet port on or near the carburator or the intake manifold.I cannot find a similar foto of the air filter/flame arreswtor anywhere. There is a flame arrestor on my carb and it looks stock, but mo provision for accepting blow-by hose from crankcase, and I am at a loss- I understand that there is supposed to be an inlet on the intake or carb for bloby, but I see no indication that there is one on this engine. There is also no air cleaner and again, cannot find anything from mfg resemcbling anything that would hook up to what I have. AQ120b, side draft carb. Engine runs fine, sounds smooth (no knocks) so I must have installed all the gear correctly.
This is hanging me up. compression even (within 10 psi all cyl), no indication of blown head gasket or cracked block ( oil not discolored, not losing fresh water level in cooling res).
Any I deas???
