I am installing an ignition sensor on a 4.3 lx carbed motor. in the directions that came with the ignition sensor it says nothing about installing the black ground wire. just the red white green white, what gives? what shall I do? I am afraid to hook it up because the last ignition sensor i installed I hooked the ground up to the block ground and 2 days later it went bad. Do i hook the ground up to the block or not? what do I do?

My original sensor had the ground to the sensor mounting hardware on the bottom of the distributor. My new sensor is in the mail... hopefully here by friday. I plan on hooking the ground up the same. What brand sensor did you buy last time and this time?

yes but after carefully reading the instructions it says nothing about the ground wire thats what scares me, I originally replaced the old school sensor with the new one so the ground wire was a new added wire and like I said it went bad in 2 days. it was a serra brand last time this time I bought a genuine merc one

again...

hook it to the same ground stud as the negative battery cable on the back of the engine

that is the BEST place to ground the ignition sensor, i've done it countless times and NEVER had an issue
