Installing a Volt guage

I have a 1996 Sunbird Neptune that did not come with a volt guage. I just got one on Ebay and was wondering if anyone could tell me how to hook it up. It has a terminal marked S, a terminal marked I, a terminal marked G, and an unmarked terminal. Looking at how the terminals are comfigured I'll assume the G is ground and the unmarked terminal is hot for the light bulb. I would then assume the I is an ignition feed? And i would them assume the S is a stator feed? What do I need to test to find these leads? Would I find this all in the ignition switch? <br />Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Those markings do not sound like a volt gauge. What is the range of the numbers on the dial?

Re: Installing a Volt guage

The markings on the dial says "Volts" and the range is from 8 to 18. I think I figured it out. I used 2 jumper leads and the 2 terminals I thought were for the bulb are. I then left the ground hooked up and jumped to the I terminal and it showed the battery voltage on the guage. I then hooked to the S terminal and the guage pegged. So I figure I will hook to the I terminal from the ignition switch and the terminal for the bulb off of my Nav light switch.

Sounds like the right plan. Sometimes they use the same cases for different instruments. Ignition to "I", Ground to "G" and piggyback the light to one of the other gauges....
