Hi,

I am installng a transducer on my Wellcraft Center Console which has two steps in the hull design.
The manual says to install at least 15 inches away from the prop, and that additional turbulence is created just aft of strakes which I have 2 because of the design.
It also says that installing directly on the step may cause it to lose signal if the boats bounces when traveling. I dont have that many options on where to put this. the first step starts just shy of the recomneded 15 inches, and the next step is way over on the right, slighter higher up on the transom.
Any suggestions on the best place to install this.
Thanks
Dwight

correction: the manual says you can mount it on a step but not behind the step as it may not stay in the water at higher speeds.
That confuses me

Can you install a shoot thru transducer at the rear of the first step near the keel?

If you can shoot thru the hull that may be a good way to go. If not then it needs to go on the lowest step of the hull. Mine due to trim tabs and other transducer is only 10 inches out side the keel/outdrive and I have never had a problem with it.

If you do a lot of water skiing or other activity where you make a lot of sharp high powered turns then 15 inches is probably required to make sure the transducer does not create turbulance for the prop.

If you mount it out near the chims them likey will not work at high speeds because chims high in the water and in turns out of the water.
