Hi All, I removed my old Force and am installing a 1993 Johnson 90hp V4. I am not finding the correct way to lift this onto my boat. My searches on the net and my Clymers don't clearly give me the answer. Is it an eyelet that screws onto the end of the crank or is there some device that works with the 3 flywheel puller holes? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, O.T.

I lifted my old johnson 90 off using an engine hoist I had and sinching a tow strap around the upper portion of the motor. I guess Johnson didnt get smarter about this until later because my 1982 50 has a lifting bracket mounted perfectly balance for lifting... good luck

I know, the 88hp clearly has a lifting bracket attached to a water housing, but the parts fiche shows nadda for a 90??? Just want to do it right. Don't want to damage anything. O.T.

The best thing to have is the lift device that goes into the flywheel puller bolt holes. That way the mtr stays vertical. You can buy them from BRP or check other posts on this forum as I know some people have made their own.

Re: Installing 90Hp Johnson

There are two types.
One just lifting eye, and one that replaces the center bolt of the flywheel puller:

A 3-legged automotive puller will work on the flywheel also. You can probably rent one from any automotive parts store.

The 60 degree engines have lifting eye cast in block. One eye on each side.
