Hi everyone,

Since I have an 25 year old internal aluminum gas tank in the bow it was highly suggested I also add a fuel filter in the boat. I purchased a Mallory Visi-bowl with 10 micron filter.

Questions:

1. Is there any risk that having a 10 micron filter on-board will add too much resistance to the flow of fuel? There is already a water separating filter inside the E-TEC so the fuel is being filtered twice.

2. If a filter got clogged up and there was a major issue with fuel flow would it damage the E-TEC or would this engine sense a problem and alert me with the check engine light? Just wondering what would happen in a worse case scenario.

Thanks in advance...

There are no fuel restriction alarms on that mtr like the old carbed mtrs. They do have an alarm to tell you if there's water in the fuel tho'. What usually happens when a filter gets clogged, the mtr will start to slow down.
