installation of New lower unit

I installed a new lower unit on my johnson 225. I was wondering if the waterpump housing needs a seal,( not where the drive shaft is but the other part of the water pump that connects to a copper pipe that runs to the top of the engine. My old foot never had one and I didn't see any kind of picture on the evinrude website. Can someone please give me some feedback. Thanks, WES

I think there is a grommet inside of the impeller housing cover where the copper pipe goes. What year is yours and I will look up diagram.

it is a 2000 Model. The model number is J225PLSSR.
