I am planning installation of a sink in my boat (new installation). I want a simple installation such as a sink with Fold up/down Tap Faucet. I will install a 14gal flexible water tank (limited space in the cuddy cabin). I have no idea about the installation configuration. I would appreciate some help such a drawing on the setup.
Also because I will have a manual water system, does it need to be pressurazed?
Thank you

Not if you have a faucet with a manual pump built into the faucet handle.
You can check out a RV dealer to browse around some.

You haven't said what your boat is, what it's configuation is, nor any other Hints...
With no parameters, it's pretty tough to know which way to go....

Will the flex-tank be near the sink,..??
Do you want it pressurized, or handpumped,..??
Do you have the flat surface to mount a sink,..??
Is there space for plumbing under this space,..??
Where ya drainin' it too,..??

Re: Installation of a sink

Bon-O,sorry for the lack of info.
I have a 1984 Thundercraft Magnum 230 CC with Merc 260/Alpha One.
I plan to build a cabinet on the Port side an locate the sink on it. (why do you sugest starboard)
The cabinet + sink will be locate just before entering the cabin (I will modify to co-pilot back to back seet) and the tank will be located also on the portside
but in the cabin under the 1st coussin (approx 2 feet away, lower).
Under the sink, my plan is to insert a 12v\120V fridge if there is room. Or else, I will forget the fridge an user the space for storage.

Where ya drainin' it too,..??

I want to install a drain but not sure were to located (below or above water line)
If I locate the drain above the water line, I am not sure if my dock neightbour would like it!!!

Is it possible & secure to have that such of an installation?
Thanks

Re: Installation of a sink

dpoff, I haven't tought about that ..
I'll make sure I buy the right faucet if my project comes to life.
In a matter of fact there is a large RV Dealer about 2 KM from my home. I will drop buy this week end.
Thank you

Re: Installation of a sink

26aftcab454, is your drain located above or below water line?
If it's below waterline, I guess there is a type of back water valve installed before the drain to stop water from coming in.
Am I right?
Something I need to clarify .... There is no pressure at all on the dirty water going through the drain sink. And there is some kind of pressure from the water
in the river trying to enter in the drain. (if the drain is located below waterline) In that case, it is impossible for the dirty water from the sink to evacuate!
Can you help me understand please.

Re: Installation of a sink

HPlou, the gray water drains (sink and shower) are above the waterline. You should go to a boat show or visit some dealers and take a look at how manufacturers are installing and plumbing those small cockpit sinks. They're pretty common these days. If you want to do this as a project it should be fairly easy. For the sink itself, a small Home Depot stainless or plastic 'bar sink' should do fine- you shouldn't need to pay RV or marine prices for that component, at least.

Another approach would be to buy a self-contained plastic 'camping kitchen' that just sits on a shelf. They have a manual pump and hold about 5 gallons of water. There's a sink-shaped depression in the unit. Handy for washing stuff. Just a thought.

Have fun!

Thanks JoLin for your comment.
I will have a look at Home Depot what's available and I never thought about going at a marina to have a look at some installations (stupid me!!)
The boat show in Montreal will be held the 27 through the 31 january. A great opportunity to have a look.

Re: Installation of a sink

my drains are above water line- I do not pee in the sink or degrease parts- Dawn dish soap-hand soap- shampoo are not going to hurt anything. lol

infact- we use a no water hand sanitizer- paper plates and have never used the shower. I use the hot water heater tank mainly as a source of heat in engine compartment in real cold weather.
