install teleflex steering

Do you need to remove the Motor on a 17 bass Tracker to install teleflex steering?
I have a 1991 TX17 tournement Bass Tracker with a 40 HP Evinrude.

If you have room to insert the steering rod into the tilt tube then no. If you don't, then yes. It would not be uncommon to have to remove it.
