Insanity on the Potomac!

Yesterday as foggy as it was, my buddy and I went to the Potomac and fished. We were targeting catfish (our phones was the GPS and my fishfinder in ANCIENT Humminbird from 1996). We got maybe 300 yards from the dock when we decided that was far enough. In 4 house, using $2.50 worth of bait, we caught 28 blue cats totaling well over 120 lbs of fish! Largest was 15 lbs. We put in at Leesylvania State Park.

Any suggestions where to go to get 30-50 lbs in Potomac?

Same spot... use bigger baits. Mackerel fillets and large cut baits.

The action won't be as fast, but the fish will be bigger.

Thanks for the heads up, Dingbat! If it wasnt too foggy we were going to try n fish the 20 to 30' dropoffs, unintentially realizing we'd be on track for some nice fish.

If you want to catch some monster fish head down to the James the end of March, early April. Shad and alewives are the ticket.
