Over the last three weeks, the Striped Bass fishing in New Jersey has been something special. Last week I decided to give it a try and got my limit within the 1st hour, catch and release after that. Bass were taken on the jig...Turkey and Striped Bass for thanksgiving:D

Nice catch. :)

What kind of jigs were you using? Where I live we usaully use live mackerel, pogies or dead herrin on stripers.

AVA diamond jigs... A-27s, 47s and 67s to get to the bottom, no tube seemed to work better and everyone?s rig had a teaser about 15" above the jig. More than half the fish were taken on the teasers, we also took a few bass on the Deadly-D!cks jigs too.

A few times it was an all out blitz with fish pushing the bait to the top and incredible bird action to mark the way for us. This is when they hit anything you threw at them. We took advantage and shot plugs at them for some top water action, we kept the nice plugs in the tackle box because the Bluefish were mixed in and when they got a hold of your plug they put a real hurting on it.

The last few weeks have been the kind of stuff we live for as anglers, some of the best Striper fishing that I?ve ever experienced. I'm going to give it a shot again the Saturday after Thanksgiving, I hope the bass are still around. Then it's on to Cod, Seabass and Tautog for the winter season.

Thanks, I think that I will try to hit the Cape May Rips this time. The approach is a little different; I'll be going out on one of the local head boats. I gave them a call and they said that they will be live lining eels and possibly spot. They also mentioned something about the moon this weekend that will make the currents a bit stronger and should be good for fishing. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
