Today I started out on the yearly run to the lake. 1/4 mile from the house I hear squeak squeak squeak. Bummer. Inner bearings muddy, right side is the slightest bit grainy to feel.
I took the old parts to the parts store. 1st guy's eyes glazed over at a big national chain. The I got a little smarter and went to a NAPA. Bearings, no problem. Seals, no way! I have the 1 3/8 inner axles on my trailer. I went all over trying to get T555846 inner seals. Eventually after much searching and measuring I found that Federated 470460 seals work. So if you have that part # you may be able to use the # I found.
This is my 3rd year with this boat & trailer.
The guy I bought if from says he packed the bearings before he sold it to me. I have adjusted them yearly and filled the bearing buddies every so often.
That's not enough.
Take it from me you need to remove & repack bearings if you dunk the trailer a lot, the buddies don't get the inner bearings.
I have seen new hub types that don't have this issue but with bearing buddies you are only getting the outer bearing so remove and manually pack those inner bearings.
